We got this as a Christmas present on 12/26/2009. I watched a Netflix movie over WiFi and an AVI file on a thumb drive, but when my kids put in a DVD, it just spit it back out. Tried a bunch of mint condition Region 1 DVDs, but nothing worked.Cheap and Discount Samsung BD P3600

Samsung customer service said it's a factory defect and that they would send me a shipping label so that I could send it in for service. Up to this point I was very satisfied. On 12/28 I shipped the item by UPS. Three days later, UPS said the service center in New Jersey had received it. Then nothing happened, except that Samsung sent me an automated email saying that they would soon void my Return Merchandise Authorization number if the unit did not arrive. I called Samsung customer service, speaking with someone in Mumbai or Bangalore or some place who said not to worry, he could tell from the UPS website that Samsung received the unit.Shop Online Today with Samsung BD P3600.

On 1/11, I received an email from Samsung saying they received the unit, repaired it, and shipped it back to me. They gave me a UPS tracking number for the unit. One week later, I tracked the unit. The UPS website said "Billing Information Received." If you're familiar with UPS, you know that this means the tracking number has been transmitted to them, but they have not received the actual item.

I tried calling Samsung Customer Service several times between 1/11 and 1/23, but each time was referred to Executive Customer Service, which is open until 7:00pm Eastern Time and not at all on weekends. At one point, someone in Lahore or Calcutta suggested that I call UPS instead of Samsung. I did so, and UPS confirmed that they never received the shipment.

On 1/23, I spoke with a regular customer service guy who said that he would try to get Executive Customer Service to call me back on my cellphone the next day. He told me he doubted that it would work. It did not.

On 1/27, I made my first contact with Samsung Executive Customer Service. They promised to look into the matter and call me back on my cell the next day. They failed to call me back, but they did initiate a UPS trace. I know this because UPS called me to confirm that I had not, in fact, received the package that they never received nor delivered to me.

On 2/2, I spoke with an Executive Customer Service person who said that following the unsuccessful trace, they had applied to have a replacement unit sent to me, and that I should receive it in 7-14 days, assuming the replacement request was approved by the people who approve these things.

Today, 2/16, I spoke again with Executive Customer Service. They confirmed that a replacement unit was supposed to be shipped, but that it is 7-14 BUSINESS days, so I should receive the item by the end of this week. If I don't, I should call them back. She was unable to confirm that the replacement item had actually shipped, and was unable to give me a tracking number for the replacement.

They say that this BluRay player has a lot of neat features, but I wouldn't know. I've only owned one for two months, after all. I thought the Netflix thing was pretty cool, as was the AVI thing. But this was a disc player that couldn't play discs right out of the box, and now I can only stare forlornly at the remote and WiFi dongle, wishing I had some device with WiFi capability to remotely control.
